Automotive tributes to rally legends often amount to little more than flamboyant decals and red contrast stitching, but Toyota has decided to take a far more substantive approach. In the wake of the 2026 Rallye Monte Carlo, the manufacturer has unveiled a machine that is as much a precision instrument as it is a trophy, the GR Yaris Sébastien Ogier "9x World Champion Edition." This exclusive release is a direct salute to the Frenchman’s 2025 WRC title, a victory that secured his ninth championship and cemented his status as one of the greatest to ever grace the sport.

What sets this edition apart from a standard hot hatch is the deep mechanical involvement of the master himself. Toyota has replaced the traditional all wheel drive modes with two bespoke settings, "SEB." and "MORIZO." While the latter is a nod to Toyota Chairman Akio Toyoda, focusing on maximum traction and consistency, the "SEB." mode is pure rally DNA. It is calibrated to send the majority of the torque to the rear wheels while maintaining surgical precision at the front end, mirroring the exact setup Ogier uses to wrestle his WRC car through a stage.

Visually, the Ogier Edition is cloaked in a new and exclusive "Black Gravite" finish, accented by matte black wheels and subtle French tricolor detailing on the radiator grille. In a personal touch from the top of the corporate ladder, Akio Toyoda’s "Morizo" signature is emblazoned on the windshield. The interior continues the theme of functional elegance, the steering wheel diameter was adjusted to Ogier's preference, and the vertical rally style parking brake, a quintessential tool of the trade, is wrapped in premium leather with distinctive gray stitching.

As with most true collectibles, this is not a mass market product. Only 100 units have been earmarked for the Japanese market, with owners to be selected via a lottery in the spring of 2026. A similar fate awaits select European markets, where another 100 lucky individuals will get to park a piece of motorsport history in their garages. It is Toyota’s way of demonstrating that while the industry marches toward a digital future, mechanical perfection and the master’s touch are still values worth waiting for.
