Lexus Bids Farewell to the RC with Final Edition Special Model
The Lexus RC, first introduced in 2014, is nearing the end of its production run, with over 91,000 units sold globally, including 12,000 sporty RC F versions. Production is set to conclude in November 2025, but before then, Lexus will release a special farewell model in Japan. The RC Final Edition will start at 6.66 million yen, while the more powerful RC F Final Edition will be priced at 13.6 million yen. Notably, only 200 units of the RC F Final Edition will be produced.
The RC Final Edition can be recognized by its black side mirror housings, red brake calipers, and 19-inch Enkei wheels. It will be available in nine exterior colors, while the interior will feature black and red upholstery made from suede and microfiber materials. A special nameplate bearing the "Final Edition" designation emphasizes its exclusivity. Meanwhile, the RC F Final Edition stands out with black BBS wheels and carbon-fiber body components.
Technical Specifications and Variants in Japan
In the Japanese market, the Lexus RC is offered in three variants:
RC 300: equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 245 hp,
RC 300h: a hybrid powertrain delivering a combined output of 223 hp,
RC 350: powered by a 3.5-liter engine generating 318 hp.
All these versions are rear-wheel drive. The sportier RC F, on the other hand, features a 5.0-liter V8 engine producing an impressive 481 hp.
Future Prospects for the RC and LC
In early 2022, rumors surfaced that Lexus may replace the RC and LC models with a new premium hybrid coupe. This upcoming model would feature a two-door body with a 2+2 seating arrangement. Insiders suggest it could utilize a powerful petrol-electric powertrain based on the turbocharged engine found in the Toyota Tundra.
