Lamborghini Wants Dust and Gravel: A New Breed of Super-Off-Roaders Is Coming

From the Sterrato to the upcoming Temerario, Lamborghini is no longer content with ruling the tarmac. Its next chapter may be written on gravel and dirt, where supercars meet the spirit of the wild.

If anyone still thought Lamborghini would remain forever tied to smooth tarmac and glamorous city boulevards, it’s time to think again. The Italian marque, long synonymous with extreme design and unbridled performance, now sees its future stretching beyond the asphalt—into dust, gravel and wild trails.

The clearest signal came with the Huracán Sterrato (photos), a supercar unafraid of forest tracks and gravel roads. Though production has ended, Lamborghini sales chief Federico Foschini insists it was only the beginning. In his words, Sterrato barely scratched the surface of what’s possible, and demand for such machines is undeniable.

The ideological successor to the Huracán, likely to wear the name Temerario, could carry that spirit forward. Foschini hints it may not be limited to off-road focus, suggesting rear-wheel-drive and sharper, sportier variants are also on the table—concepts bold enough to raise eyebrows even among Lamborghini purists.

Nor is the idea confined to one model. The Urus, already a global hit as a performance SUV, could evolve into something even more radical. Meanwhile, the Revuelto has demonstrated Lamborghini’s willingness to push boundaries, with the 1,080-horsepower Fenomeno positioned as more than just a variant—almost an entirely separate model.

All signs point to a brand ready to redefine itself. For Lamborghini, straying from the road is not a threat but an opportunity. Until now its identity was built on speed and glamour; soon, it could add a new dimension: dusty, wild and utterly unpredictable.
