Lamborghini Lanzador: From EV Dream to Plug-In Reality?

The electric buzz is fading—and Lamborghini seems to be listening. Once unveiled at the 2023 Monterey Car Week as a bold hint at the brand’s first all-electric model, the Lanzador now appears headed down a different road entirely. Instead of rolling out as a pure EV in 2029, it may arrive as a plug-in hybrid.

Demand for electric cars in the luxury segment is plummeting like a brick in a well. Consumers aren’t eager to shell out millions for something that hums like a microwave and begs for a charge every few days. Least of all Lamborghini buyers, for whom engine roar and petrol fumes are not details—they’re DNA.

The original concept’s promises were nothing short of utopian: 1,340 horsepower, all-wheel drive, smart aerodynamics, a tech-saturated yet cozy cabin, and sustainable materials throughout. All of it wrapped in a high-riding GT silhouette.

Now, though, Lamborghini is teasing a production version with a staggering 2,000 horsepower—enough to embarrass even the Bugatti Tourbillon (1,800 hp) and Rimac Nevera (1,914 hp). But the “fully electric” part? That may quietly vanish, replaced by yet another plug-in hybrid.
