Kia Stonic Gets a Fresh Suit: EV Looks, Smarter Tech Inside

Launched in 2017 and lightly updated in 2020, the Stonic has now undergone a deeper transformation. The design follows Kia’s latest styling language, with slim LED daytime running lights, a lower-set grille and, in the sportier GT-Line trim, aggressive air intakes that lend the car a bolder face. The rear lights adopt a C-shaped signature, and new 16- or 17-inch wheels complete the visual update. Revised bumpers stretch the overall length by 65 millimeters, though the SUV still fits within a tidy 4,165 mm footprint. Luggage capacity remains at 352 liters.

The cabin gets a more noticeable overhaul. A dual 12.3-inch digital display takes center stage, physical buttons have been pared back, and a redesigned steering wheel, ambient lighting and wireless device charging modernize the interior.

Safety and driver assistance have also been brought up to date, with the Stonic now offering adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, safe-exit warning and other technologies once reserved for larger, more expensive models.

Underneath, the Stonic continues to share its platform with the Kia Rio. Power comes from a one-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine, available in standard form or paired with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, producing 100 or 115 horsepower respectively. Transmission choices include a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic.

All told, the Stonic’s latest refresh delivers sharper looks and a much-needed tech boost – enough to keep Kia’s compact crossover competitive a little longer in a crowded segment.
