KGM Torres EVX Gets a Bigger Battery and Longer Range, But Keeps the Same Price
KGM, formerly known as SsangYong, has given its Torres EVX electric SUV a meaningful update. The refreshed version now goes farther on a charge yet keeps its price steady at around €34,500, a figure that makes many rivals look slightly embarrassed. The new battery doesn’t just add kilowatts — it adds confidence, too. The SUV comes with a seven-year or 150,000-kilometre warranty, while the battery itself is covered for ten years or an extraordinary one million kilometres.
The Torres EVX is KGM’s most ambitious EV to date. Its permanent-magnet synchronous motor produces 152 kW (207 bhp) and 339 Nm of torque, putting it comfortably in line with well-established competitors. The BYD-supplied LFP Blade Battery has grown to 80.6 kWh, pushing the WLTP range past 500 kilometres, or up to 664 kilometres in city driving. With fast charging, the battery can go from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.
This update shows that KGM is moving steadily into the fully electric arena — but doing so with the kind of practical, down-to-earth thinking that Korea is known for: more substance, not more price. The enlarged battery and generous warranty underline that KGM no longer aims merely to survive. It wants to compete head-on with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.
While many competitors demand tens of thousands more for equivalent equipment, KGM seems to bet on a simple truth: an electric car doesn’t need to be luxurious to be good.
