KGM Aims for Ford and Jeep Territory with Bold New Pickup
South Korea’s KGM is preparing something tougher and more assertive than anything it has built before. A truck that looks equally at home on American highways as it does in Europe’s backyards.
The company has released the first glimpse of its upcoming model, a pickup with rugged, unmistakably American-inspired styling that appears poised to replace today’s Musso, also known as the Rexton Sports. While the exact launch date remains under wraps, a full debut is promised within months, with sales expected to begin next year.
The teaser image reveals a muscular, masculine front end dominated by a massive bumper, illuminated grille, and signature L-shaped daytime running lights. There are clear echoes of Ford’s F-150 and Jeep’s design DNA, yet the silhouette remains recognisably Musso. A longer bed seems likely, hinting at greater practicality.
Like the current Musso, the newcomer is expected to ride on the same ladder-frame architecture as the Rexton SUV, though upgrades to the chassis and powertrain have not been ruled out. Presently, KGM’s pickup offering is limited to combustion engines, but industry chatter suggests a hybrid variant may join the range, marking a significant step towards modernisation.
Longer term, KGM reportedly wants to turn Musso into a standalone sub-brand, with a family of pickups spanning different sizes and powertrains. These would target not just the domestic market but also export regions including Europe, where demand for versatile, more efficient utility vehicles continues to grow.
If the current Musso has been seen as a no-nonsense workhorse with a modest image, the new arrival clearly aims higher—more presence, more muscle, and far more attention.
