The classic American V8 refuses to die, even if environmental campaigners try to trip it up at every turn. Jeep listened to its loyal crowd and restored eight cylinders to the 2026 Wrangler. The first special edition, the Moab 392, arrives with a statement. It undercuts its predecessor by twenty thousand dollars, roughly 18 400 euros, and swings the spotlight back on the sort of powertrain many fans never wanted to lose.

Jeep ties the Moab 392 to the anniversary of the Jeep Easter Safari, the annual pilgrimage that pulls thousands of enthusiasts into the Mojave Desert. Anything capable of crawling through sand turns up there. The Moab 392 gets the Wrangler’s familiar 6.4 litre V8 that produces 470 horsepower and 637 newton metres, paired with an eight speed automatic gearbox. The engine returned because the Jeep community simply refused to give up on a big cylinder count. No marketing spin, just demand.

The new edition comes with an adjustable valve exhaust system and a suspension setup supported by disconnecting stabilisers. Underneath sit seventeen inch wheels with beadlock rings and thirty five inch tyres. Equipment includes wider wheel arch extensions, sturdier side steps and heavier towing hooks. Inside, nappa leather dominates the cabin and an Alpine audio system sets the tone for desert trails or a late evening by the fire.

The first step in a year long Wrangler programme

The Moab 392 marks the launch of Jeep’s Twelve 4 Twelve plan. The idea is simple. Twelve new Wrangler specials revealed over the course of a year. Each month brings another addition, which keeps attention high and gives fans fresh material for speculation.

Pricing that jolts the off road world

Jeep sets the Moab 392 price at 79 995 dollars, around 73 500 euros. The Rubicon 392, which uses the same engine, costs 100 590 dollars, roughly 92 300 euros. The gap feels almost unreal, yet the American off road scene sometimes needs a controlled shock to remind its faithful why they fell for these machines in the first place.
