ItalDesign Hints at a New Honda NSX: The Legend Returns

ItalDesign has sent car enthusiasts into a frenzy with a 30-second teaser that appears to hint at the rebirth of the legendary Honda NSX. Details remain tightly guarded, but the taillights and silhouette leave little doubt: the icon is preparing to return.

The Italian design house shared a brief video on social media showing the rear of a car illuminated by a sequence of glowing LED lights. The ring of light traces the outline of the classic NSX, though the exact design was never used on the original. Under the dim studio lighting, a raised roof intake can also be seen, giving the car a more purposeful, aggressive stance.

No official information has been released about the new model. ItalDesign declined to comment on the powertrain or platform, offering only a cryptic promise that it will be “a contemporary tribute to an icon.” That choice of words suggests it may not be a restored classic, but an entirely new car inspired by the spirit of the original.

Among automotive journalists, two theories dominate. One holds that ItalDesign is reworking the original NSX’s body and interior while keeping the mechanicals intact — meaning a 3.0-litre V6 producing 290 horsepower. The other suggests a completely new supercar that shares only a visual connection with the 1990s legend.

If ItalDesign follows through, the reimagined NSX could break cover before the end of the year. And if the legend truly returns, it won’t be born on Honda’s production line, but in Italy — where cars are still shaped by passion, not spreadsheets.
