Hyundai’s new electric flagship, the Ioniq 9, has wasted no time earning recognition. Barely three months after its market debut, the three-row all-electric SUV has been named Germany’s 2026 Premium Car of the Year by a panel of nearly forty independent automotive journalists.

According to the jury, the Ioniq 9 stands out for its aerodynamic design, ultra-fast charging capability, and a cabin that blends space with handcrafted quality. The interior, available in six- or seven-seat configurations, features electronically adjustable seating and intelligent climate control to ensure comfort for all occupants.

Built on Hyundai’s E-GMP electric platform, the Ioniq 9 employs 800-volt architecture, allowing its battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 24 minutes. The new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit introduces AI-based voice control and extensive digital personalisation features, positioning the SUV at the cutting edge of connected mobility.

The overall German Car of the Year 2026 winner across all categories will be announced in November, but the Ioniq 9 has already proved a point. In today’s electric age, “premium” can sound distinctly Korean.
