Honda Tests Its First Large Electric Motorcycle in Europe
Honda has released photos and video footage of its EV FUN Concept undergoing road tests in Europe — the company’s first full-size electric motorcycle. The project is being led by veteran engineer Masatsugu Tanaka, the man behind icons such as the CBR Fireblade, Africa Twin and Gold Wing.
First unveiled at the 2024 EICMA show in Milan, the EV FUN Concept takes the form of a mid-sized naked bike. It features a fixed battery pack and is equipped with the CCS2 fast-charging system, a standard in the automotive world. Honda believes this approach could make electric motorcycles far more practical for everyday use.
Tanaka, who has over two decades of experience developing Honda’s flagship combustion bikes, describes the project as a bridge “from the expertise gained with the best internal combustion motorcycles” into a new electric era. The brand says the aim is to carry its core values — balance, quality and riding pleasure — into the battery-powered age.
Honda has given the concept a poetic tagline: “Be the Wind.” The bike is meant to deliver a quiet, smooth and seamless riding experience that makes the rider feel like part of the airflow itself. For now, the company is focusing its European tests on practicality, charging performance and durability.
Technical specifications remain under wraps, but Honda confirms the new EV FUN model is “coming.” The open question is whether it will be just another silent commuter or a truly emotional electric successor to the Fireblade and Africa Twin legacy.
