When Highway Traffic Diverts to a Village Road: A Lesson in Logistics Gone Wrong

When heavy traffic from a major highway is rerouted onto a narrow local road, the result is rarely graceful. For the truck drivers caught in this detour, every centimetre became a battle for space — and even an ambulance, sirens blazing, could move no faster than a crawl.

A recent traffic diversion showed what happens when big-road logic meets small-road reality. Lorry drivers were forced to inch forward with barely a hand’s breadth to spare on either side, their trailers grazing kerbs and hedges as they tried to squeeze through bends never meant for vehicles of such size. According to the video’s author, not even an emergency vehicle could escape the bottleneck; the ambulance, lights flashing, advanced at walking speed.

No official explanation has been given for why heavy traffic was directed off the main highway onto such a constrained stretch. Whether it was roadworks, an accident or a navigation error remains unclear, but the outcome is obvious: a reminder that in transport planning, every detour carries a cost — and not always the kind measured in minutes.
