First Images: Kia Unveils Three New Electric Models

Kia is gearing up to introduce a trio of electric models that are expected to solidify its position as a leader in the EV market. The grand unveiling will take place on February 27 during the Kia EV Day, an event dedicated to showcasing the brand’s strategy for achieving global dominance in electrification. The spotlight will be on three key models: the sporty EV4 sedan, the compact EV2 crossover, and the versatile PV5 electric van. Ahead of the official reveal, Kia has released teaser images offering a glimpse of these highly anticipated vehicles.

Kia EV2: A Compact Urban Crossover with a Bold Look
Among the teaser images, the blue electric vehicle is the Kia EV2, a compact urban crossover with a striking and unconventional design. It features uniquely styled alloy wheels, plastic cladding on the wheel arches and doors, and a robust rear bumper accentuated by a matte silver trim spanning its full width. Breaking away from current design trends, the EV2’s Y-shaped taillights are not connected by an LED strip, and a small rear spoiler adds a sporty touch. Additionally, the expansive glass roof enhances the sense of openness inside the cabin.

Kia EV4: A Sporty Sedan with Performance-Oriented Features
The EV4 has been captured in side-profile images, revealing its sleek silhouette. Kia describes it as a sporty sedan, sharing some design cues with the larger EV6, including plastic body accents, elongated headlights, and distinctive L-shaped taillights. The EV4 will be available with two battery options – 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh – and is expected to be powered by a 201-horsepower electric motor mounted on the front axle.

Kia PV5: A Versatile Electric Van for Cargo and Passengers
The final model in Kia’s EV lineup is the PV5 electric van, which was first showcased earlier this year. The PV5 stands out for its modular platform, which allows for different body configurations to be installed on its chassis and cab. It will be offered in both cargo and passenger variants, with the latter featuring a flexible interior layout that can be adapted for various seating arrangements, including accessibility options for passengers with special needs.

A New Era of Commercial EVs
The PV5 is part of Kia’s commercial electric vehicle lineup, built on the PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) architecture. Production will commence at Hyundai-Kia’s new factory in South Korea, which has a projected capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year. The facility is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
