EBRO brings over-the-air updates to its plug-in hybrids
Spanish carmaker EBRO Motors is taking a step towards smarter mobility, allowing customers to keep their cars up to date without ever setting foot in a workshop.
The company announced that all of its plug-in hybrid (PHEV) models will now receive over-the-air (OTA) software updates. The system enables vehicles to upgrade their functions remotely, improving everything from driving performance to connectivity.
According to EBRO, each car can now update itself automatically through a built-in SIM card paired with a connected smartphone. When the two are synchronised, updates are downloaded and installed securely in the background, with no need for driver intervention.
The technology can refine driver-assistance systems, enhance infotainment performance, and even tweak driving parameters. EBRO says this approach will extend the digital lifespan of its vehicles and help preserve their resale value.
The first OTA update campaign runs from late October to 31 December 2025, during which all EBRO PHEV owners will be able to refresh their vehicles remotely, ensuring their software stays current and their cars stay smart.
