DS Opens Orders for Its Flagship Electric SUV, the N°8
French luxury brand DS has officially revealed the pricing and specifications for its new electric flagship, the DS N°8 SUV. The model is available in three powertrain options and two trim levels, featuring battery capacities of 74 kWh and 97.2 kWh. The longest-range version can travel up to 750 kilometers (466 miles) on a single charge, and in city driving conditions, where regenerative braking enhances efficiency, this figure can increase to 900 kilometers (559 miles).
Powertrains and Performance
The DS N°8 comes with three different power outputs:
230 hp (FWD) – front-wheel drive
245 hp (FWD Long Range) – front-wheel drive with extended range
350 hp (AWD Long Range) – all-wheel drive
All versions include a boost function, temporarily increasing peak power to 260 hp, 280 hp, and 375 hp, respectively. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0-62 mph) takes:
7.7 seconds for the 230-hp model
7.8 seconds for the 245-hp model
5.4 seconds for the AWD Long Range version
Interestingly, the 245-hp variant is slightly slower than the 230-hp version due to its larger battery, which adds extra weight.
Battery and Charging Capabilities
The DS N°8 is equipped with French-made NMC lithium-ion batteries:
The 74 kWh battery is available on the standard model.
The 97.2 kWh battery powers the Long Range versions.
WLTP-rated driving range figures are as follows:
N°8 FWD Long Range – up to 750 km (466 miles) (city: 909 km / 565 miles)
N°8 FWD – up to 550 km (342 miles)
N°8 AWD Long Range – up to 688 km (428 miles)
The battery supports 160 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 20% to 80% charge in just 27 minutes. A 10-minute charge can add 200 kilometers (124 miles) of range.
Cutting-Edge Design and Advanced Technology
The DS N°8 stands out with its innovative lighting signature. The front end features the illuminated DS Luminascreen grille, DS Lightblade LED daytime running lights, and DS Pixel Vision headlights, whose eight LED modules create a Clous de Paris-inspired guilloché pattern, reflecting the brand's attention to craftsmanship.
Inside, the cabin exudes luxury, with Nappa leather upholstery, high-end materials, and state-of-the-art technology. Key features include:
Heat-reflecting panoramic glass roof
DS Iris System 2.0 infotainment system with a 16-inch display
Smart adaptive cruise control
Camera-based adaptive suspension that scans road conditions
Night vision system for enhanced safety
Trim Levels and Customization
The DS N°8 is available in two trim levels: Pallas and Etoile.
Pallas (available on FWD and FWD Long Range) includes parking sensors, adjustable regenerative braking, acoustic glass, ambient lighting, and dual-zone climate control.
Etoile (available across all powertrains) adds a digital rearview mirror, 360-degree camera system, head-up display, and power-operated tailgate.
Additionally, four optional packages are available: Tech, Absolute Tech, Comfort, and Absolute Comfort. Customers can choose from five exterior colors, with the option of a black roof and a two-tone paint scheme.
