The DS N°7 has stepped into the spotlight as the replacement for the outgoing DS 7. The new SUV follows the brand’s revised naming strategy and arrives with both fully electric and hybrid powertrains, a clear sign that DS is trying to bring a little more order, and a little more substance, to its premium ambitions.

Size and technical details

The DS N°7 now stretches to 4.66 metres in length, while the wheelbase reaches 2.79 metres. Boot capacity stands between 500 and 560 litres, depending on the powertrain.

The electric range includes three versions. The front wheel drive model produces 230 horsepower and claims a range of up to 543 kilometres. The Long Range version develops 245 horsepower and promises up to 740 kilometres. At the top sits the all wheel drive Long Range model with 350 horsepower and a claimed range of up to 679 kilometres.

On a fast charger, the battery can go from 20 to 80 per cent in 27 minutes, with charging power reaching up to 160 kW. The hybrid version produces 145 horsepower, with CO2 emissions starting at 121 grams per kilometre.

Sales

DS has opened order books in France for the first version, the N°7 E TENSE FWD ÉTOILE Ligne Business. Prices start at €64,200, with the rest of the range due to follow later.

The old DS 7 ranked among the brand’s best selling models, which makes the arrival of the N°7 a significant handover for DS. The new name and the broader electrified line up suggest the company is trying to unify its model range while strengthening its position in the premium SUV class. Whether buyers see it as a proper step forward or simply a tidier badge for the same old fight is something the market will decide soon enough.
