Dacia Duster Reveals a New Face: Now Also a Four-Door Pickup

The Duster has long been the people’s car—simple, honest and tough. Now it takes an unexpected detour: in Romania, a new pickup variant has debuted, keeping a full four-door cabin but adding a compact cargo bed. Prices start from €26,000.

Dacia’s Romanian website has unveiled a curious new offering: a pickup derived from the ever-popular Duster SUV. It is not the first time the model’s purpose has been reinterpreted. Just days ago, a two-seat van version launched in the UK. But this marks the first time a Duster has appeared as a four-door pickup with a proper load bay. Two hybrid drivetrains are available, and the entry-level model is priced from €26,000.

The conversion is straightforward but clever. The roof is cut off just behind the rear pillars, with the standard cargo space reconfigured into a pickup bed. Reinforced side panels and a drop-down tailgate complete the transformation, while the load area is lined with durable plastic. A partition separates the cabin from the bed, fitted with a transparent window.

The bed measures roughly one by one meter, with a payload capacity of 430 kilograms. Intriguingly, the vehicle’s overall dimensions remain unchanged, and even the Duster’s distinctive taillight signature is retained. The pickup will be offered in three trims tailored to the Romanian market.

Under the bonnet, buyers can choose between a 1.2-liter 130-hp turbo with mild-hybrid assist and all-wheel drive, or a 140-hp hybrid system based on a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter petrol engine.

With this new spin, the Duster is no longer just a no-frills SUV. It is stepping into dual roles: family transport and workhorse. That versatility could easily win it fresh followers across Europe.
