Cadillac Ends CT4 Production, Gears Up for Next-Generation CT5

Cadillac is preparing to retire its smaller CT4 saloon after the 2026 model year, shifting focus to a new generation of the larger CT5. The compact four-door will fade into history, while its bigger sibling continues to thrive with a combustion engine, standing firm even as the electric era gathers pace.

The brand confirmed that both the current CT4 and CT5 will bow out after 2026, though only the latter will receive a successor. The decision reflects the market’s reality: demand for compact luxury saloons has shrunk, while CT5 sales have risen by nearly 11 percent.

Launched in 2019 as a replacement for the ATS, the CT4 recently received an equipment update but remained mechanically unchanged. Prices in the United States rose by up to 2,700 dollars (around 2,500 euros).

The CT5 arrived around the same time, replacing the CTS. It has held steady in recent years, with the flagship CT5-V Blackwing earning particular acclaim for its hand-finished cabin and thunderous V8 engine — a model that reminded enthusiasts Cadillac still knows how to build a proper performance car.

The numbers make Cadillac’s strategy clear. In the first three quarters of 2025, the company sold three times as many CT5s as CT4s, leaving little doubt about customer preference.

The next-generation CT5 will continue with internal combustion, built at the same Lansing Grand River plant in Michigan. Cadillac has yet to reveal a launch date, but development is well under way.

The message is unmistakable: smaller saloons may be consigned to the past, but refinement and power remain central to Cadillac’s future.
