BYD brings a new hybrid SUV to Europe, promising over 1,000 km on a single run

Chinese carmaker BYD has unveiled the compact and energetic ATTO 2 DM, a plug-in hybrid that blends the silence of an EV with the stamina of a petrol car. The claimed range is an impressive 1,020 kilometres.

BYD is banking on its so-called Super Hybrid DM technology, already proven in the SEAL U DM. The new ATTO 2 DM follows the same formula: up to 90 kilometres of pure electric driving, enough for the daily commute or a quick shopping trip. On longer journeys, the smart powertrain automatically switches to the most efficient hybrid mode, keeping fuel use and emissions to a minimum. With a full battery and fuel tank, the SUV is said to travel more than a thousand kilometres without refuelling.

Two versions of the ATTO 2 DM are coming to Europe, differing in battery size, electric range, and power output. The hybrid stands out visually with a wider front grille, redesigned lower bumper, and a new tailgate badge. A fresh exterior colour called Midnight Blue gives the model an extra touch of character.

The European debut takes place this week at the Fleet Europe Days event in Luxembourg, followed by a media presentation in November. Pre-orders open soon, with first deliveries expected in the first quarter of 2026.
