BMW CE 04 Turns the Scooter into a Tech-Soaked Futurist’s Fantasy

BMW Motorrad wants to prove that even a two-wheeled urban commuter can out-tech the average family car. The CE 04 is a scooter that doubles as a design statement, a technology showcase and a vehicle from tomorrow—all delivered with typical German earnestness.

Launched in 2021, the CE 04 now enters its 2026 model year with a refreshed lineup split into three visually and functionally distinct versions: Basic, Avantgarde and Exclusive. Expect whites, icy silvers, blue undertones, yellow highlights and laser-engraved rear wheels.

It sprints from zero to fifty in just 2.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 120 km/h. With 42 horsepower and an 8.9 kWh battery, it offers a range of up to 130 km on a single charge. Charging options include home outlets, wallboxes and public stations—with fast charging bringing the battery from 20 to 80 percent in just 45 minutes.

Its tech arsenal is nothing short of impressive. A rigid rear suspension with a single-sided swingarm, a 10.25-inch TFT display with built-in navigation—no phone mounts here—and premium touches like ABS Pro, LED fog lights, adaptive cornering lights and welcome and goodbye light animations.

Three ride modes come standard, with a fourth, DYNAMIC, available as an optional extra. The same goes for electronic stability control (ASC) and dynamic traction control (DTC). And of course, each version can be loaded with an entire symphony of options: heated seats, keyless system, cooled mobile phone compartment, a helmet box you can open while seated—the list goes on.
