Alpine Enters a New Era with a Triple-Motor Roar and 470 Horses from Hell

If there's one name that has carved itself into the hearts of driving purists as the embodiment of a sports car tearing down a mountain pass, it’s Alpine. But now, the French marque has delivered a thunderous rebuttal to every skeptic — with the Alpine A390, their first fully electric SUV.

We're talking three motors. One up front, two in the rear. That means all-wheel drive and the kind of acceleration that presses you into the seat. The GT variant delivers 400 horsepower and 650 newton-meters of torque. But if your nerves are forged from steel and you're keen on startling pedestrians into next week, the GTS cranks out 470 horses and a monstrous 808 newton-meters. It launches from zero to a hundred in just 3.9 seconds.

The design draws heavily from a previous concept car. Sales in Europe begin before the end of 2025, with pricing that’s equally athletic: starting at €65,000. In other words, Alpine is aiming this missile squarely at the electric Porsche Macan.

Built on the same platform as the Renault Megane E-Tech, the A390 ventures quickly into sci-fi territory. MacPherson struts up front and double wishbones at the rear, six-piston brake calipers, 152 millimeters of ground clearance, and wheels measuring 20 or 21 inches — this isn’t a soft suburban crossover but a serious machine ready to shred through corners.

Inside, you’re greeted by a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12-inch infotainment screen, both borrowed from the Megane. A 13-speaker Devialet sound system can even simulate engine noise. The boot swallows 532 liters of cargo.

Alpine is pricing the A390 between €65,000 and €76,000, while the Porsche Macan EV starts at €80,700.
