Alpine has confirmed that its compact electric A290 will not remain confined to city streets. In November 2025, the car will make its competitive debut on the rally stage, as the brand introduces the Alpine A290 Rally Trophy—an all-electric one-make cup.

The A290 Rallye is the first model from Alpine’s “100 percent electric Dream Garage” to be adapted for rallying. It comes equipped with a limited-slip differential, hydraulic handbrake and other bespoke modifications to make it competition-ready. Earlier appearances at Goodwood and the Rallye Mont-Blanc Morzine were little more than warm-ups, but at the Rallye National de l’Indre the stopwatch will finally come into play.

The stakes are enticing: the winner will earn a direct entry into a round of the French Rally Championship at the wheel of an Alpine A110 Rally, while other competitors secure a free berth in the 2026 A290 Trophy season.

From 2026, the A290 Rally Trophy becomes a full-fledged series with six rounds on the French championship calendar. Sixteen entrants will be admitted, each supported with technical assistance, spare parts service and charging infrastructure. Alongside the main series, Alpine also plans a Regional Trophy, where the A290 can be entered in local rallies and hill climbs, with the five best results counting toward the standings.

Every team will be paired with an Alpine dealership, creating visibility both for the drivers and the brand’s sales network. The prize pool is equally ambitious: €19,200 in bonuses and parts will be distributed at the 2025 Indre rally, swelling to €236,000 for the 2026 season. The regional series will offer a further €46,000.

Ultimately, Alpine’s new trophy is more than a sporting venture. It is a carefully crafted strategy to cement the marque’s electric identity while uniting dealerships, customers and motorsport in a single marketing-driven package.
