AC Cars Unveils Limited Edition Cobra GT Coupe: A Nod to Tradition with Modern Power
AC Cars has announced a limited edition, old-school style coupe, the Cobra GT, marking yet another thrilling update from the iconic brand. This year, as AC Cobra celebrates its 123rd anniversary, it prepares to delight fans with the latest addition to its lineage. Following the reincarnation of the AC Cobra GT Roadster in spring 2023, the company has now unveiled the AC Cobra GT Coupe. The primary difference, as implied by the name, will be the body type, offering customers a vehicle with a hardtop. The plan includes producing up to 250 of these open sports cars annually, indicating that the closed version will also have a limited production run.
The roadster is built on an extruded aluminum space frame, with all external panels made of carbon fiber. Adapted for this sports car is a 5.0-liter V8 engine from the Ford Mustang, available in two versions.
The base engine offers an atmospheric 460 horsepower, while the supercharged version boasts 660 horsepower. Alongside the engine, customers can opt for either a 6-speed manual or a 10-speed automatic transmission.
AC Cars noted that the main difference with the Coupe version lies in the body type. This means that the chassis and engines will remain the same, and the car will simply be equipped with a lightweight, stationary carbon fiber roof. Information about the new model's equipment has not been disclosed, but it is likely that the coupe will feature the same equipment and options available in the existing AC Cobra GT.
